If you asked synth-pop producer and artist Kelly Romo where she’s from, you most likely wouldn’t get a straight answer. Born in Hawaii and carrying influences from previous addresses across the US, Asia, and Europe, her musical style draws together diverse synth-led landscapes with moody tones, delicately constructed under hard-hitting lyrics. Her diverse influences include Lido, EDEN, Chvrches, and The Knife.
Emerging from the late-night DJ circuit, Kelly Romo moved away from the decks and further into herself with her solo artist project: drawing on themes of introspection, accountability, mental health, and the darker corners of humanity. Her recent release “Foresight” is a dialogue on the cycle of abuse and how these experiences either halt or expand our personal roles within it.
She creates and shares from a place of authentic vulnerability, and encourages herself and others to look into the mirror and share in the loneliness, difficulties, and celebrations of being flawed and perfectly human.
